GRANT APPLICATIONS

Dunn Family Foundation Policy on F&A Costs

The Dunn Family Foundation recognizes that organizations often require Facilities and Administrative (F&A) costs (a.k.a. indirect costs) be added to all grant requests. While we recognize that F&A costs are real, we work to focus our funding on direct costs and trust the sponsoring organizations will "keep the lights on" as part of their support for funded research.

Therefore, the Dunn Family Foundation aims to limit funding for F&A costs to no more than 10% of the funded direct costs of grants. Extraordinary circumstances, when indirect costs exceed 10% may be considered on a case by case basis.

Geographic Scope:

  • Domestic: The Foundation currently funds programs for organizations with offices in: Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada and Tennessee.
  • International: The foundation currently funds international programs through United States recognized 501(c)(3) organizations with offices in Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada and Tennessee.

Application Procedures

Please note that we are a small, family run organization and will work to reply to communications as time allows. While we try to review grant applications on a rolling basis, a majority of our funding decisions are make in Q4 of each calendar year.

To have an application considered, please start by carefully reviewing our funding guidelines. If, after careful review of these guidelines, you believe that your organization and project still aligns, we welcome you reaching out to us. Please note that our foundation guidelines target science based educational initiatives. With that, while we do not eliminate religious based organizations from our funding criteria, we ask that you carefully consider how your request will align  with our funding criteria before reaching out.

The Foundation requires a proposal of no more than three (3) pages. The proposal should include the following information:

  1. The organization's background information, including mission and history, as well as the organization's impact on educational processes.
  2. The purpose, goals and activities of the project for which you are requesting funding. This should also include budget details. If the total budget for the project is greater that the request being made to the Dunn Family Foundation, you will need to explain the plan to complete the budget and funding for the project.
  3. A timeline for the entire project and the set of measurable objectives to assess impact.

Please also be prepared to include the following information with your proposal:

  • A current budget for the requesting organization
